Participation Agreements and Image Usage Licensing for Plaza Walls Participating Artists

  1. Image usage rights are retained by the artist(s) as defined in Title 17 of the U.S. Code (the Copyright Act) of the United States of America, and you may sell, reproduce, and do what you wish with the image of the mural you paint.

  2. Artist acknowledges that they are painting at their own risk and are accepting their own liability for harm or injury. 

  3. The artist agrees not to paint anything that is explicit, offensive in nature, racist, sexist, or promotes drug use, guns, or violence.

  4. Plaza Walls and the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate (OMS) may use images of the murals for fair use purposes as well as for commercial and marketing purposes to promote the Plaza Walls Project. Examples are, but are not limited to, reproductions of the murals printed as postcards, prints, or other merchandise to be sold in the Plaza Walls Gallery with the explicit intent to raise funds to continue the programming of OMS.

  5. Artist understands that the Plaza Walls Project is a rotating mural project and that murals may be removed or painted over, without notice, as directed by the curators. The intent is for murals to run for 1 year with the fence panel murals running for 8 months.

  6. Independent photographers with an annual income of less than $100,000 may purchase a photography license through the Plaza Walls to photograph their subjects in front of PW murals. These funds are used to promote and continue OMS programming. Commercial photographers with corporate clients are required to obtain licensing from the artists and OMS.

  7. Property Owners are hereby granted a limited usage license to share the artwork (painted on their property), as needed, for marketing materials promoting their properties, through social media posts, images on websites, presentations, etc. Property Owners will never have the license to reproduce the artwork for sale.

  8. Plaza District businesses may share the murals within the Plaza Walls project to promote their businesses online and through social media.

Artist agrees to:

  1. Provide their own transportation to and from Oklahoma City for the Plaza Walls Mural Expo on September 28th, 2024.

  2. Attend the Artist & Staff Dinner on September 27th.

  3. Live painting during the Mural Expo and festival on September 28th.

  4. Provide all materials needed to complete the mural.

  5. (Optional) Provide artwork for the Plaza Walls Gallery Exhibition (participation is optional but encouraged).
